The Gujrat Cancer Society (GCS) has the following noteworthy services:

Poor Patient Relief Scheme:

Gujarat Cancer Society reaches out to patients by supporting the treatment expenses. Reimbursement of medical expenses, supporting prosthesis & other expensive tests for poor patients are done, who are not supported by any Govt. schemes. The society supports such 700 Cancer patients every year and about 50,000 Non-Cancer patients every year.

Patient Adoption Scheme:

Gujarat Cancer Society has a "Patient Adoption Scheme" for Cancer children. It provides support to Cancer Children by giving them free treatment for one year covering the treatment expenses up to Rs. 1,00,000 for each child. GCS supports such treatment to nearly 50 children of poor families, every year.

Education & Research support to Doctors & Para medical staff:

Gujarat Cancer Society promotes research and education in healthcare by sponsorship of Doctors & Para medical staff to attend conferences and teaching programmes. It also supports funding of various research projects and studies in the subject of Cancer Biology and clinical research, approved by "GCS Ethics Committee".

Cancer awareness & Detection Camps:

Early detection of cancer is key to prevention! GCS encourages various NGOs and groups to organize cancer detection camps all over Gujarat. It supports expenses of such camps which are organized at district level for screening of Breast and Cervical cancers in women and oral cancers in men. Every year nearly 40 to 50 Camps are organized. Creating cancer awareness by display of posters and distribution of pamphlets are part of these camps. Tobacco users are counseled for tobacco cessation during these camps.

T B Patel Drug Bank:

Chemotherapy is one of the treatment options for most of the cancers. Many cancer patients cannot afford to buy expensive drugs for long time. Gujarat Cancer Society has establishes "T B Patel Drug Bank" in GCRI premises to give chemotherapy and all other medicines at most affordable rates to needy cancer patients. This drug bank serves more than 1.5 lakh patients every year.

GCS Medical College Hospital - a GCS institution provides ultramodern healthcare facilities in all specialties of medicine for all categories of patients. The hospital also provides super specialty services in Interventional cardiology, Neurology, urology, endocrinology, spine surgery, nephrology & plastic & cosmetic surgery. Hospital services are also extended to community through organizing camps & health check up facilities. Cancer Awareness (Ganga Swarup Ramdevi Chetram Samriya Cancer Exhibition Centre)

A Cancer Exhibition "PRAYAS" - displaying Common types of Cancers in Men, Women & Children Prevention Signs and Symptoms of different types of Cancer Diagnosis & Treatment Colorful picture walls as well as Audio Visual room Students from schools, colleges, medical institutes, volunteers from NGOs and social groups and general public visit the exhibition.

Health Check-up

Screening for common cancers in men & women. Mammography Test for Women Early detection of breast cancer Early detection of Cervical Cancer by PAP test and Liquid Based Cytology. Routine screening tests such as, PSA for Prostatic cancer in male, CA-125 for ovarian cancer in female, CEA for intestinal & lung cancer etc. 5000+ people take advantage of health checkup facilities every year.

Hospice Services

20 Beds, in 5 collages and 4 special rooms allotted to the terminally ill patients. Specialized care of an institution and the love of home for terminally ill patients. Medical, Psychological, and Spiritual support to patient, caregiver & family. Peace, Comfort, and Dignity to patients along with empowerment & support a patient's family. Our Aim: "Add life to days and not days to life" in case of terminally ill cancer patients. Gujarat Cancer Society is amongst the pioneers in Palliative Care and Hospice Services (Since 1988).

Home Care Services

To fulfill all requirements of home bound patients and their caregivers. Offered to cancer & Non-Cancer patients who are in need of palliative care and are local residents.

Home visit by our Healthcare team to patients who are home bound, in the last stage of disease and cannot be brought to hospital / Hospice.
Addressing their Medical problem, nursing issues and psycho-social issues
Getting them admitted to Hospice if need arises
